MONTGOMERY, TX - Dr. Robert T. Anderson, 86, of Montgomery, Ala., went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October, 2, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery with the Rev. Rick Lance officiating. Interment will be at Pineview Memorial Gardens at Wetumpka, Ala. Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.

Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Beaird; his parents, Sam and Allie Dixon Anderson; his brother, Sam D. Anderson; his sister, Rebecca (Becky) A. Bonner, and his sister, Mary Alice Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Ransom Anderson of Montgomery; one son, the Rev. Tom Anderson; one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Anderson; three grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson, Kaelen Anderson and Lianna Anderson all of Singapore; one sister, Emma Aitken of Chelsea, Ala.; two nephews, Wade Aitken of Columbiana, Ala., and Frank Aitken of Odenville, Ala.; and a son-in-law, A. H. (Skip) Beaird of Birmingham.

Bob was born at Seale, Ala., and was reared in Hatchechubbee, Ala. He received a B. S. Degree from Troy State University, his Master's Degree from Auburn University and his Ph.D. from Peabody College. He served as Assistant Superintendent of Chesterfield County Public Schools, VA, and as principal of schools in Montgomery. He served as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Educational Administration and Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Alabama. He was a licensed Baptist minister and served as the volunteer Coordinator of the Mission Service Corps at the AL Baptist State Convention for 10 years and as a deacon and Sunday school teacher in churches. He was a master gardener.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Child Protect of Montgomery, at Child Protect, 935 S. Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.
