In California of the early part of the 1900s, Carl Beal was making a name for himself as a geologist, mapping the Baja California region in 1920, made several major surface anticline oil discoveries in his work with oil pioneer E.W. Marland and was one of the first independent oilmen to drill for oil in Alaska.
His sons, grandsons and great-grandsons have followed in his footsteps, which led them to the Permian Basin, where their company, BTA Oil Producers, actively produces from throughout the Midcontinent and their community involvement benefits Midland.
