Betty R. Moran, 77, of Decatur, a member of Ladies of the Moose, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Woodcrest of Decatur. The Adams County native retired in 1984 from General Electric in Decatur after 44 years of service, was a member of St. Mary's of the Presentation Church in Geneva, GE Retirees Association, Ladies of the Elks and Knights of Columbus. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, James P.; a niece, Mary Hertel of Fort Wayne; and a sister-in-law, Mary H. Harpring of Bryant. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's of the Presentation Church, Geneva. Calling is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva. Burial will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Geneva. Memorials are to Masses, Adams County Hospice or the church's Improvement Fund. Betty R. Moran, 77, Decatur, died in Woodcrest at 10:30 p.m. Monday.

She was born on May 3, 1922 in Adams county to Charles and Lola Callow Ross and married James P. Moran in 1944; he survives.

She retired in 1984 after a 44-year career with the General Electric Co. She was a member of St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church in Geneva and the Women of the Moose, the Ladies of the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and the GE Retired Ladies, all of Decatur.

Other survivors are a niece, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Hertel of Fort Wayne, and a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Harpring of Bryant.

Two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church, Geneva, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visiting hours are 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, with a rosary service there at 7:30 p.m. that day.

Preferred memorials are to the church for masses, to the church improvement fund or to Adams County Hospice.
