Alice E. Murphy, 92, Celina, Ohio, an Adams County native and a longtime resident of route 1, Bryant, died at 1:20 a.m. today (Ohio time) in Celina Manor Nursing Home, her residence the past 2 1/2 years.

She was born on September 20, 1898, in Berne to John and Elizabeth Topp Hendricks and married Martin Murphy, who died in 1968.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic church in Geneva.

Surviving are four daughters: Virginia Homan, Fort Recovery, Ohio; Mildred Minnich, Port Huron, Michigan; Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Gromeaux, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Tricarico, Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Doyle (Josephine) Hendricks, Dayton; one sister-in-law, Nolda Hendricks, Berne; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic church, with burial in the church cemetery.

There will also be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Visiting hours at the funeral home are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to her church or the New Corydon Community Club.
