James Alexander Hanson, Sr., 65

James was born in the Stillwater area in 1907, the son of Charles S. Hanson and Margaret Veletta (nee Alexander) . He graduated from Sparks School when he was 14 and went to work in logging camps until 1932, when he moved to the ranch on which he died. He was engaged in farming, ranching and logging operations throughout the Kalispell area his entire life. James was a former Boy Scout leader, 4-H Leader, and trustee of the Sparks School district. He was an active member of the Stillwater Grange; Stillwater Lutheran Church; and the Western Montana Stockmen's Association.

He was married to Veronica C. Conrad on Dec. 22, 1928 in Kalispell, Mont. He is survived by his wife, Veronica; two sons; a daughter; mother, Veletta; foster father; two brothers; two sisters; and seven grandchildren. James passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 24, 1972 at his West Valley farm.
