Joe Jackson Johnson Jr., 91, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. Service: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: 11:15 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Joe Jackson Johnson Jr. was born July 5, 1922, in Fort Worth to the late Joe Jackson Johnson Sr. and Minnie Marie Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and, like his father, he earned a doctor of jurisprudence from the University of Texas in 1950. After graduation, he began an extensive legal career in Tarrant County. He was a 63-year member of the State Bar of Texas and served as the lawyer for the Tarrant County Bail Bondsmen's Association. He was very active in the Democratic Party, serving as election judge and Democratic Precinct 4130 chairman. His law office at 201 E. Belknap fell victim to eminent domain and he relocated to South Main. He was a leader and very active in Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Jackson Johnson III. Survivors: Beloved wife and companion, Vicki Pruitt Johnson; sons, John Johnson and wife, Ana, and Joel Johnson; daughter, Judy Fowler and husband, John; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
