Wesley Poynter, 89, formerly of Manse, died Sunday at Christian Care Center of Lancaster. A native of Garrard County, he was the son the late William and Donner Poynter and the widower of Lucille Norman Poynter. He was a retired farmer and former employee of High Dollar Tobacco Warehouse. He was a member and elder of Old Paint Lick Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a cousin, Paul Starnes of Paint Lick.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Old Paint Lick Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bryce McCowan. Burial will be in Manse Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dickie Arnold, Ronald Ledford, Gary Clark, Bob Marshbanks, Marvin Marshbanks, and Tommy Arnold. The Rev. Bryce McCowan and the officers of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home.
