Funeral service for Chester Lee Chenault, 85, of Decatur, will be Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dallas Culver and Rev. Patrick Cooley officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Chenault, who died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at his residence, was born February 29, 1928, in Lawrence County to Jessie Annual Chenault and Elizabeth Swindell Chenault. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Myrtle Olene Mullican Chenault. Mr. Chenault was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and was employed by Decatur Utilities for 40 years. He was member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the VFW, and American Legion Post 15. Mr. Chenault was a dedicated husband and father who dearly loved his wife and family.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffery Lynn Chenault (Cecilia) of Trinity, Jerry Chenault (Michelle) of Moulton and Rev. Jimmy Lee Chenault (Sylvia) of Trinity; one daughter, Jennifer Chenault Wright (Sonny) of Decatur; two sisters, Betty Beatrice Johnson of Orange Beach, Fla., and Margaret Thelma Sandlin of Falkville; nine grandchildren, Will Wright (Monica), Rebecca Gressman (Jack), Chase Chenault (Emily), Calee-Lyn Chenault, Kristi Chenault, Jay Chenault, Alli-Bess Chenault, Teri Chenault Adams (Matt) and Carla Chenault; three great-grandchildren, Nira Wright, Travis Chenault and Pyper Adams; and four stepgrandchildren, Ryan Hunt, Eric Hunt, Lew Byars and Sydney Sandefer.

Pallbearers will be nephews.
