DEXTER -- Charles Phillip Howe, 67, of Dexter and a retired area farmer, died Tuesday (Feb. 23, 1993) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester of complications of a stroke suffered two weeks ago.
Born Nov. 18, 1925, in Dexter, he grew up on the family farm here. After attending the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault, he returned home where he farmed until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Hiawatha Deaf Club of Rochester.
Survivors include three brothers, Francis "Bud" and Stanley, both of Dexter, and Lawrence "Larry" of Rochester; two sisters, Betty (Mrs. George) Monnier of Dexter and Beverly Howe of St. Peter, Minn.; and special friend Joan Engel of rural Stewartville. A sister preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dexter United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Meier officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday until 11 a.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Stewartville and an hour before the service at the church.
