Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (1108 W. Bellevue St.) in Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Hannah Aaron, 84, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, TX.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Willie Maynard, Jr. officiating.

Hannah, affectionately called Teater, was born May 19, 1929 to the late Rev. Dr. Harry J. Gilliams and Sis. Viola Eulien Gilliams in Houston, Texas. She was baptized by Rev. F. M. Boley at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in New Iberia, LA.

On June 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leroy Aaron at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Opelousas, Louisiana. God blessed them with three children: Gwendolyn, Chantelle and Roderick.

Hannah received her high school education from Iberia Parish Training School in New Iberia, Louisiana and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Leland College in Baker, Louisiana. Further studies were done at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

Having taught in the St. Landry Parish public school system for thirty years as an English teacher, she had a heart for young people. Her involvement in children and youth ministries was evidence of her love for children. She also enjoyed music, reading, and attending Bible Study classes. She was a member of the Auxiliary of The Gideons International and a former member of Esther Grand Chapter O.E.S., P.H.A.

Hannah was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Aaron; her parents, Rev. Dr. Harry and Viola Gilliams and step-mother Mary Virge Gilliams; and her in-laws, Rev. James C. Aaron and Virginia Hawkins Aaron.

Hannah's new life will be celebrated by two daughters, Gwendolyn Morris and her husband Claude of Friendswood, Texas and Chantelle Alcorn and her husband Todd of Lafayette, Louisiana; a son, Roderick Aaron and his wife Gina of Beaumont, Texas; a sister, Eva Jacobs of Thibodaux, Louisiana; 8 grandchildren, 4 godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
