Martha Wallace was born circa 1700 in Ulster, Ireland. She was the wife of Alexander Gordon. Her son, James immigrated to Ballston, New York. He returned to Ireland and brought his widowed mother and two sisters with him to America. James served as an officer during the American Revolutionary War and also a Senator of the State of New York.

Mary is the mother of at least three children: James Gordon, born October 31, 1739, in Kellead, County Antrim, Ireland, died January 17, 1810 married Mary Ball on March 16, 1775 (DAR Ancestor #: A046037) ; Jane Gordon, married George Scott; and Sarah Gordon, married William McCrea, son of Reverend James McCrea
