Died 9:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 1991, at his residence in Baker. He was 79, and a native of Carlos, Grimes County, Texas. He was a retired boilermaker. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 2 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Religious services at St. Isidore Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Joel LaBauve. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by wife,Shirley Mae Abbott Allen; three sons, Barry J. "Bud" Allen, Gregory L. "Rip" Allen, Baker, and Paul A. "Tony" Allen, Beaumont, Texas; three daughters, Sandra Ann "Dude" Stroughter, Theodora Lane "Teddy" Mock and Mary Frances "L.S." Wells, all of Baker; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father, Leonard Wilson Allen; mother, Octavia Allen Kingston; a sister, Clara B. Martin; and three brothers, William E. Allen, Thomas B. Allen and Jesse J. Allen. Pallbearers will be Orrin Allen Venn, Victor Mock, Vincent Mock, Jude Mock, Theron Chiasson, Barry J. Allen II, Danny Allen, Goo Allen, and Robby Wells. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 4085, Baker.
