Gertrude worked at various jobs in her lifetime, one being the Carnation Can Factory, later she went back to school and became a licensed L.P.N., she retired from Skagit Valley Hospital in 1984.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her brothers, Miles, Jack, Joe and Ed and their wives, Florence, Melba, Helen and Minnie. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Cecilia, Catherine Olsen her husband Pete Olsen and her brother-in-law Eldon "Buck" DeMeyer.
She is survived by one sister Theresa DeMeyer and Brother Ed's wife Hermini Fagan. She is also survived by her two daughters, Kathy Winter, husband Vern, and Patty Tawes, husband Darrell. Grandchildren Kevin Winter, wife Sara, Kari Hernandez, husband Antonio, Christopher Tawes, wife Andrea, Shaun Tawes, wife Samantha, one great-grandchild Savannah Rose and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010, 11:00am at Hawthorne Funeral Home 1825 E College Way, Mount Vernon with a reception to follow in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
