A Warren youth and two other soldiers from the county were today reported killed in action while six others were listed as wounded....
Killed in Action:
Pvt. Rowland Casper, 235 York NW
Killed in Philippines
Pvt. Casper, 19-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H.N. Casper, 235 York NW, was killed in action in the Philippines Feb. 18, while serving with the First Cavalry Division.
The last letter his parents received from him was written on the day he died.
The young soldier entered the service in September, 1943, shortly after graduation from Harding High. He went overseas in April, 1944.
Born May 20, 1924, Pvt. Casper worked at the Rowland Grocery, W. Market, during the summer before he entered service.
He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Annabell and Carolyn at home.
