Jerry Torrence, 80, of Georgetown, TX passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013.
Jerry was born on August 19, 1933 in Indiana. He was a resident of Corpus
Christi, Texas for 47 years and lived in Georgetown for over 20 years. Jerry was
the son of Fred W. Torrence and Edythe Torrence (Meng). He married the love of
his life on February 14, 1958 in Beeville, TX. Together they shared over 55
years together.

Jerry graduated high school in 1949, and was a member of the Naval Reserves,
serving actively on the Coral Sea aircraft carrier from 1954 to 1956. After his
service to his country, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration
for 27 years and served most of those years as Radar Unit Chief in Corpus
Christi, TX, providing radar service for Corpus Christi’s airport and the Naval
Air Station. Jerry retired in 1985.

As a young man, Jerry enjoyed his bowling league and coaching junior bowlers.
After his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, playing many
courses in the Austin area. Jerry was a dedicated family man and loved spending
time with his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. Jerry is preceded
in death by his parents, Fred and Edythe Torrence; his sister, Jane Logan of
Westfield, IN; his brother, George Torrence, of Bellville, FL. He is survived by
his wife, three children, three grandchildren, two siblings and numerous nieces
and nephews among other loving family members and friends.

Jerry’s family would like to give a special acknowledgement to some of the
people that cared for him; Doctor Todd Gage, Doctor Robert Canby, and the Staff
at The Wesleyan at Scenic and Odyssey Hospice. Their loving care brought great
comfort to his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to The
Salvation Army, Covenant House, 1111 Lovett Blvd., Houston, TX 77006, or Hope
United Church of Christ, 125 Summers Green, Georgetown, TX 78633.
