Mrs. Caroline Stiefel, widow of the late Joseph Stiefel, and for many years a resident of Fort Wayne and Angola, died Yesterday morning at 7 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Simon Becker, of Chicago. Mrs. Stiefel had attained the advanced age of ninety years and death was due to senility, following a brief illness. Mrs. Stiefel was born in Haigerloch, Germany, February 7, 1825, but came to this country when quite young and settled near Fort Wayne. She had made her home in Fort Wayne until ten years ago when she moved to Chicago to make her home with her daughter. She was well known in Fort Wayne and this vicinity and her death is mourned by many friends. Surviving are the following children; Mrs. S. A. Beckhard, of Boston; Moses Stiefel, of New York city; Herman Stiefel, of New York city; I. H. Caliga (Stiefel), of Salem, Mass.; Mrs. Adolph Hirsch, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Louis Wolf, of New York city; Louis Stiefel, of this city; Leopold C. Stiefel, of Angola, and Mrs. Simon Becker, of Chicago. The body will be brought to Fort Wayne for burial and will arrive here today. Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Achduth Veshalom temple. Burial at Lindenwood.
