Mr George Martin Brittain, 69, of Charlotte died Dec. 20, 1993, at home. Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harry and Bryant Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation is 7 to 8:30 tonight.

Mr. Brittain retired after 40 years as a manufacturer's representative in the underground piping industry. He was active in American Waterworks Association and National Fire Protection Association.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., he was a Samford University graduate and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He had served in World War II and the Korean War, and retired from the Navy Reserve as a lieutenant commander in 1964.

He was a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in church mission work.

Survivors are his wife, Bettysu; sons, Bob Brittain of Walnut Creek, Calif., Geoff Brittain of Charleston, Pace Brittain of Roseburg, Ore.; daughters, Mrs. Lynn Olson of Cedar Bluff, Va., Mrs. Leta Flowers, Miss Lee Brittain; sisters, Mrs. George Baughan, Mrs. Leta Slate, both of Birmingham; five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wedgewood Baptist Church Inter-City Missions, 4800 Wedgewood Dr., Charlotte, N.C. 28210; or to Forest Hill Presbyterian Church Inter-City Missions, 7224 Park Rd., Charlotte, N.C. 28210.
