Myrtle Jane Hodnefield, the daughter of William and Emma Hodnefield, was born May 21, 1897 on a farm near Clear Lake, Iowa and departed this life at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Thursday, February 8, 1990 at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 17 days.
She moved to Radcliffe, Iowa as a young girl and received her education in the Radcliffe, Iowa schools. Later she attended Jewell Lutheran College in Jewell, Iowa. On June 16, 1920 she was united in marriage to Peter Hodnefield in Radcliffe. After their marriage, they moved to the Jackson County area where they lived for many years. Mr. Hodnefield died October 25, 1958. She moved to Estherville, Iowa in 1965. She has lived at the Good Samaritan Home for the past fifteen years.
Myrtle was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church of Estherville, Iowa.
Mrs. Hodnefield is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James (Mavis) Dahl of Estherville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Woodyard Jr., Gary Dahl and his wife Brenda, and Jeff Dahl and his wife Kay; four great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Olson of Radcliffe, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son in infancy, her parents, and two sisters.
