Josephine Luella Adell, ALKIRE was 93, when she passed away on June 6, 1996, in Roseville, California. Born in Pony, Montana October 8, 1902, she was Archibald "Arch" Allan Alkire's and Edna Delphine Cummings's first child. The family left Pony the following year and moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where they remained until 1910, following the births of her two siblings Lola and William. Moving to Butte, Montana, her father found employment as a miner with the Anaconda Mining Company and her mother worked as a typing instructor at the Butte Business College. She met her future husband Frank Adell in Butte, and obtained their marriage license on June 2, 1922, although they were actually married in Portland, Oregon on September 24, 1922. Their son Bruce was born in Portland on October 7, 1923, the day before her birthday. From Oregon, the family moved to California the following year and lived in Santa Rosa, Napa and Sacramento before finally settling in Roseville in late 1939. Their daughter Beverly had been born in Santa Rosa in 1926 and son Franklin joined the family in 1939, as the family was preparing to move to Roseville.

Her husband Frank passed away in 1989 and at the time of her death in 1996, she was survived by all three of her children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and other relatives living in the Pacific Northwest.

Residing at the same home in Roseville, California for about 56 years with her late husband Frank, they hosted many family gatherings thru the years. She worked for several dress shops in sales and alterations and as an accomplished seamstress, did alterations for store customers as well as her own private clientele from home. Jo was a long-term member of the First Methodist Church of Roseville and Minerva Rebekah Lodge of Roseville (100F).
