Elmwood - Thomas James "Tom" Strappe, 53, of Elmwood, died at 6:37 a.m. Sunday, October
6, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born on July 28, 1960 in Peoria to James and Sandra (Barnabee) Strappe.

He married Rhonda Joann Cossart in Elmwood on October 17, 1992. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother of Elmwood, son, Justin Strappe of Elmwood,
sisters Jeanann (Larry) Dikeman of Colorado Springs, CO and Karen (Don) Ramp of
Elmwood, nephews Dakota Ramp of Elmwood and Travis (Jessie) Cossart of Orlando,
FL and nieces Windi and Megan Cossart of Winter Garden, FL, brother-in-law Dan
(Stormy) Cossart of Winter Garden, FL, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and
great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Tom worked as a physical therapy assistant with OSF Home Care, and also worked
part-time for Physical Therapy Services and Great Plains. He had formerly
worked for Komatsu.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elmwood and the Knights of
Columbus. He was a life member of the Peoria Motorcycle Club, a member of Spoon River Riders ABATE of Illinois and GWRRA Chapter Z.

Tom loved to ride his Harley motorcycle. He had participated in the Peoria to
Memphis St. Jude Rides for 6 years. He has headed the annual Hospice ride for
the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. He loved to ride benefits, rallies, or just
to ride to get something to eat. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed the many
races he attended with his family. He loved go-cart racing with his son, Justin
for 7 years throughout the Midwest. He enjoyed family vacations to Las Vegas
and Puerto Vallarta. He also enjoyed golfing and throwing parties at his house.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church in Elmwood, where visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. on
Tuesday.

Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in Brimfield.

Memorials may be made to his son's education fund, Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or St. Jude
Rides.
