Otis Ray Joseph Martin, son of the late Delmar and Gladys (Prater) Martin, was born on January 17, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on September 17, 2013 at his residence in Van Buren, Missouri. He had attained the age of seventy-four years and eight months. Otis had resided in Van Buren since moving here in 1993 from St. Louis. He was a retired driver for the CFI Trucking Company and also worked for the Van Buren First Responders. He was Captain for the Van Buren Fire Department and was a CB Radio operator. Otis was of the Catholic belief and loved helping people. He also enjoyed hunting, taking his family on trips and family barbecues. He loved his family and was proud of them. On December 28, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Joan Tilley in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 12, 1996. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Ann Burkett on May 24, 2006, one brother, Jimmy Prater and two sisters, Geraldine Oswald and Paula Kamp. Survivors include two sons, Richard T. Martin of Van Buren and Robert Wayne Martin and his wife, Kristine of St. Louis; one daughter, Linda Sue Bellah of Van Buren; one sister, Theresa Higgins and her husband, Mike, of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 with Rev. James Gore officiating. Burial will be in the Ellington Memorial Cemetery.
