Colonel John (Jonathan) B. Overmeyer: U.S. Civil War 5th Corps Commander, 11th Regiment, Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteers under Brig. General Henry Baxter's 2nd Brigade. Captain at Gettysburg & Major at Battle of Five Forks by end of war where he was wounded in action, Bvt. Lt. Colonel and Colonel. Career Battle Engagements: Cedar Mountain, Gainsville, Second Bull Run, Chantilly, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Totopotomy, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad, Five Forks, Hatcher's Run, Richmond and Appomattox Campaigns. The regiment was famous for having a mascot, a dog named "Sallie," that was eventually killed at Hatcher's Run.
