She was born on September 7, 1920 I Edgewood, Texas, the firstborn child of Roy and Mable (MacDonald) McMillon. A "miracle baby" for her day, she weighed in at only 3 lbs, and easily fit into a shoe box.
In 1939 Reba married (eloped with) Harold Lange.
In 1949 they moved to Mount Vernon where Harold went to work for a honey farm. They eventually opened up their own honey business along Hwy 99 just south of Mount Vernon and Lange's Honey Farm was established.
After Harold's death, Reba ran the farm until 2003 when health problems forced her to retire. Reba loved talking to her honey customers and would give free honey sticks to the children.
Her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, candle making and knitting. She enjoyed making clothing for her whole family.
An animal lover, she always had small dogs to keep her company, and at one time owned over 300 parakeets, lovebirds, finches and canaries.
Reba has been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1949 and an avid supporter of the Regional School. Each year, she and Harold would give a case of honey to the nuns who taught at the school.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (and husband, Stan) Shipley; her grandson, Aaron Lee (and wife Joanne) Hardin; great-grandson, Zachery; and granddaughter, Amber Kyung Hardin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1998 and her son, Harold Lee (Butch) in 1955.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 12:15 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park.
