Mr. Beaudin Drowned
Word was brought to town Tuesday night that Capt. Sid Smith ran his tug on the reefs at La Cloche depot on Monday afternoon and that Mr. Beaudin and a little grandson, named Legace, aged six who had gone to their help and afterwards started for Little Current had not since been heard of. Mr. Legace came over here Tuesday night and got Mr. Ferguson's launch to take up the search and at the time of writing they have not returned. It appears the tug had gone to the Soo early last week and as the weather was bad they had to remain several days at Thessalon, where they left Monday morning for home. Having to call at La Cloche, they first went there and while doing so ran on the reef.
Later – Mr. A. Ferguson found the boy yesterday sitting up to the knees in water in the punt which had drifted sometime on Tuesday on an island about six miles from his home. The little fellow was nearly dead with cold when found but soon revived. When questioned, he said his grandfather had fallen out of the punt by the tug. Search is being made for the body.
