Joan Bentley, age 80, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Mouthcard, Ky. She was born on January 21, 1933 to her parents the late Lit Adkins and Gladys Dempsey Adkins. Joan was the wife of the late Troy Bentley, a homemaker, and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by one infant son, one brother, Arnold Adkins, two sisters, Mae Adkins and Ruth Stiltner. Joan is survived by four daughters, Mary Smith of Johnson City, Tn., Peggy Little of Kingsport, Tn., Debra Kilgore of Mouthcard, Ky., Linda Little of Pikeville, Ky., one sister, Geneva Coleman of Panama Beach, Florida, companion, Angland Thacker, special friend and caretaker, Virginia, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Lloyd Holland and Gary Hoggston officiating. The burial will follow in the Keyser Cemetery.
