Funeral services for Richard Dale Anderson, 45, formerly of Natchitoches, will be held Tuesday, April 25 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Miley and Deacon Ralph Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulee-Bethel Cemetery near Campti.
He left this life at 1:50 a.m. (Easter) Sunday, April 23, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. It devastated his body but never his spirit.
At the time of his death he was living in Point Blank, Texas, having been employed there since 1996 with Altec Industries. Before that, he worked in Natchitoches with Valley Electric Membership Corporation for 13 years.
Ricky loved music and taught himself to play guitar and played lead in many country western bands. One of his greatest joys was helping his son learn and enjoy the guitar.
A devoted husband, father, son and brother, he is survived by his wife, Donna of Point Blank, Texas; his son, Richard Dale Anderson Jr, of Salina, Kansas; his daughter, Kimberly Sue Anderson of Natchitoches; two step-daughters, Amber Nicole and Brittany Renee Downs, of Point Blank; his mother, Janae Youngblood (Anderson) Harpool and step-father, Charles Harpool, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; step-mother, Mary (Fakess) Anderson, of Mooringsport; three brothers, John Anderson and wife, Meg, of Arlington, Texas; Mike Anderson and wife, Marty, of Denton, Texas and Allen Anderson and wife, Leslie, of North Richland Hills, Texas; a step-brother, Don Harpool of McAllen, Texas.
Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Glenda Miley of Campti; sister-in-law, Tonya Procell and husband, Chris, of DeRidder; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Anderson, of Mooringsport; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Annie (Olive Youngblood) McBride, of Natchitoches.
Pallbearers will be John Hare, Leo Friday, Charles Rushing, Ronald Miley, Barry Miley, and Thelton Wall. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Roe, Tracy Roe, Nelson St. Andry, Don Ellerbe, Chris Procell and Allen Ates.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Fund.
