LAMAR, Mo. — Sherman C. Jenkins, 96, Lamar, Mo., passed away Sept. 28, 2013, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lamar.

Sherman was born Jan. 21, 1917 in Rueter, Mo., to Willie and Golda (Wyman) Jenkins. At a young age, Sherman began working in a lumber mill near his home town and learned many skills which eventually led him to Lamar, where he began working for Carl Moore Motors and then went to work for Lawnboy. When Lawnboy left Lamar, he drove a truck for K&K Produce and then worked for O'Sullivans, where he worked for several years until his retirement. He continued working in his own business of sharpening saws until he was in his 90s. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church where he was a trustee and an Elder.

At his side throughout the years was his wife, Oletha. Oletha Williams was also from Rueter. They were married 72 years until she passed Sept. 30, 2013. Three sons were born to this union, Darryl, Dwane and Dennis; and a daughter, Shirlene.

Sherman was preceded in death by his wife, Oletha; and his parents.

He is survived by daughter, Shirlene Kleeman and husband, John, of Aurora; three sons, Darryl and wife, Dorothy, of Lockwood, Mo., Dwane and wife, Mary, of Neosho, Mo., and Dennis and wife, Kathryn, of Lamar; 11 grandchildren, Mike, Danny, Jolene, Kevin, Donavon, Derrick, Scott, Brett, Nicholas, Alison and Daniel; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel, Lamar. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Lamar.

Contributions may be made to the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church.
