He was born July 5, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Albert W. "Al" and Mildred Jagow Wolff. He married Janet K. Laurenzana in 1966. Mr. Wolff, a graduate of Illinois State University, was a Rochester resident for six years. He was employed as a seventh-grade social studies teacher and coach at Washington Middle School for 30 years. He was a member of St. Jude's Church, Rochester, the Springfield Education Association and the Illinois State Basketball Coaches Association. He served as the coach of the eighth-grade basketball and cross country teams at Washington Middle School and was named District 18 Coach of the Year by the Illinois State Basketball Coaches Association for the 1995-96 school year with an overall record of 367 wins and 81 losses. He also received coach of the year honors in 1991-92 and 1992-93. Teams in which he coached were named as 1991-92 state champions, second place winners in the years 1982-83 and 1992-93, and fourth place winners in 1995-96. As coach, he won 17 city championship titles, eight regional titles, seven sectional titles and had an overall state record of 13 wins and six losses.
Survivors: wife, Janet K.; a daughter, Stacy A. Wolff of Springfield; a son, Jeffrey R. Wolff of Cayuga, Ind.; two granddaughters; parents, Albert W. "Al" and Mildred Wolff of Springfield; an aunt; an uncle; a niece; and several cousins.
Services: Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Jude's Church, Rochester, the Rev.
William Carpenter officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
