Joseph P. "Little Joe" Curcio

Joseph P. "Little Joe"Curcio, 90, of Galveston, was called home Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Turner Geriatric Center. Funeral service will be, noon, Tuesday, June 17, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father John Paul Flajole, OFM, officiating. Entombment will follow
the service at Galveston Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 16th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., led by Father John Paul Flajole.

Joseph was born October 4, 1912, in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in New York and proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He moved to Galveston in 1946 and worked at the Balinese Room, where he met his wife, Frances, whom he married in 1949. Joseph owned and operated D & D Wholesale Distributors, a fishing tackle distribution company, from 1964 until his retirement in 1993. He was a lifelong baseball fan, and the former Brooklyn and now Los Angeles Dodgers was his favorite team. Joseph was a member of the Galveston Elk's Lodge, the Galveston VFW post, and St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Waiting for him at the gates of eternal rest was his wife of 48 years, Frances; parents, and numerous other relatives and friends.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Don Roy, of Galveston; Darlene and Randy Shumate, of Castroville, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Joann MacTavish, of Bacliff, TX; sisters, Rose Cavallone
of Tinley Park, Illinois; Millie Terrone and husband, Nick, of Maspeth, NY; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; Bobby Aymes, Jr., Joseph Aymes, Michel Roy, Jamie Roy, godson; Justin Tucker, and Travis Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be; Art Hewitt, James Teel, James Lera, Wayne Tucker, Betty Kershaw, and Juanita and Joe Martin.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Edgar Jones. Ill, and the staff at Edgewater Retirement Community for the loving care they gave to Joseph.
