David Gayle Abshire, 65, of Martinsville, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center, where he lived.
He was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Martinsville to John A. and Ramona Dillon Abshire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, He worked for American Furniture Co. for 25 years and was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Raymond Abshire of Ridgeway; and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Dr. David Adkins officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
