John Reber Daly was born February 18, 1925, in Flint, Michigan. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy in 1946. A La Marque resident for 41 years, Mr. Daly was the first elected fire marshal for the city of La Marque and the second police officer of the La Marque Police Department. He also served as a sheriff's deputy.


John "Jack" Daly, age 62, passed away Thursday, October 22, 1987, at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City. He was a former employee of American Oil Company. Mr. Daly was a retired member of the Clerk and Checkers Union and a former member of International Association of Mechanics. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, the "50" Club in La Marque, I.L.A. Locals 307 and 1665, a past member of the La Marque Jaycees and an honorary lifetime member of the La Marque Fire Department.


His wife, Pat, survived, as well as two daughters and a son; a sister, Kathleen; a brother, Lawrence, and 11 grandchildren. The family received friends at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, where services were held.
