Funeral services for Thomas "Tom" W Rock, 58, of LaConner will be held at 11 am on Saturday at Hawthorne Funeral Chapel 1825 E College Way at Mount Vernon with the Rev Dean Wigstrom of the Salem Lutheran Church officiating. Internment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park. Visitation will be available from 10 am- 8 pm on Friday. Mr. Rock died Monday at Skagit Valley Hospital following an extended Illness. He was born April 25, 1933, at Summit Park near Anacortes to Hatty and Blanche Rock. He attended schools in LaConner graduating from LaConner High School in 1952. Following his graduation he entered the US Army and served to Alaska communications until 1956. On Feb 11, 1956, he married Bonnie Olson at Mount Vernon. He was employed at Dunlap Towing for 35 years retiring in April of this year. Mr. Rock was a member of Mount Vernon Elks No 1604, the Mount Vernon Moose No 1640, associate member of the Swinomish Indian Tribe and a member of the Samish Indian Tribe. He was also a member of the Hope Island Fire Department, Survivors include his wife, son, Roger Rock of Mount Vernon, daughter, Barbara Jewitt of Burlington, two grandchildren and his mother Blanche Rock of Anacortes
