Roney Wayne Sanders, 65, Martinsville, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 in the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born on Thursday, October 7, 1948 in Arjay, Kentucky, to the late Roy D. and Minnie Elizabeth (Powell) Sanders,
Ron was a self-employed contractor. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed his grandchildren, work and wood crafting.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Joyce (Thomas) Sanders, whom he married on June 16, 1970; son, John Jason Sanders and wife Lynn of Martinsville; daughters, Cindy Myers and husband Nick of Franklin and Laronda Wright of Fort Wayne; brothers, J.B. Sanders of Arjay, Kentucky, Bob Sanders of Harlan, Kentucky, Frank Sanders of Blanchester, Ohio, and Roy Sanders, Jr. of Middlesboro, Kentucky; sisters, Pearlie M. Giles of Arjay, Kentucky, Shirley Grambel of Lexington, Kentucky, Rita Rice of Greenwood and Corrina Howel of Arjay, Kentucky; grandchildren, Shelby Wright, Nick Wright, Emily Sanders, Grace Sanders, Brandon Sanders, Cara Snyder and Myanna Myers; great grandchildren, Danica Mayer and Easton Mayer.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the New Testament Baptist Church, 4060 State Road 37 South, Martinsville, Indiana, 46151 with Rev. Larry Heskett officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the church from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be at the Gosport Cemetery.
