Martin Conboy was the former US Attorney for the Southern District of NY from 12/26/1933 to 5/15/1935, appointed by FDR.

He defended the gangster, Dutch Schultz, against tax evasion charges.

He was the head of New York City Selective Service during World War I and a coordinating adviser to the New York State Selective Service during World War II.

He was also a Knight of St. Gregory, Knight of Malta and a grand officer of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.
