Helen was born on May 4, 1923 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Volney and Rose (Weber) Klein. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1941. Helen also attended Wood Business School. On October 13, 1943 she married Gerald J. Rydzewski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1983. Helen was employed as a assistant steel buyer at Manitowoc Shipbuilding for many years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, where she was a very active member belonging to the Resurrection Choir, Be Friender Organization and the facilitator for the Bereavement Support Group. She was also a member of the former Rosary Alter Society. Helen enjoyed golf with her husband, playing cards with her many friendly card groups and was an avid reader.
Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law; Richard and Darlene Rydzewski, two daughters and sons-in-laws; Mary Beth and David Johnson, Janet and Tony Vogel, all of Manitowoc, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother-in-law; Ralph Rydzewski, Valders, one sister-in-law; Rita Klein, Appleton. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends also survive.
Helen was also preceded in death by one daughter; Patricia, one brother; Jack, one sister; Olive. Also by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
