He was born on May 21, 1927 in Stonington, a son of Wade and Pearl Bates Allen. He married Dorothy Tyler on June 4, 1948 in Taylorville. Mr. Allen was a retired material handler at Caterpillar.
Surviving are hiswife Dorothy; thee sons Harold Eugene Allen of Taylorville, Robby Dane Allen of Taylorville and Rocklynn "Rocky" Allen of Pana; three daughters Mrs. George (Marilyn) Galloway of Sterling, Illinois, Mrs. Rick (Jeannie) Rhodes of Decatur and Mrs. Phil (Jayandra) Grgurich of Washington, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Allen of Charleston and Lawrence Allen of Pana and one sister Joann Andris of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at Sutton Memorial Home. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment was made in the Old Stonington Cemetery at Stonington.
