Homemaker and former seamstress Maudean Larue Wilkinson Mathenie, 88, of Paris, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at her home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Bobby Campbell of Central Point Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ben and Jerry Taylor, Scott Lewis, Dustin Morris, Tim Matheny and Jessie Wilson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at McEvoy.

Mathenie was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Walnut, Ark., to the late William Talmage and Maude Alice Forrestor Wilkinson.

She married Russell “Red” Mathenie Sr. on Nov. 14, 1947; he preceded her in death on June 27, 1989.

Mathenie worked as a seamstress for Salant & Salant, formerly of Paris. A family member said she loved to read, sew and babysit for family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by two children: Brenda Gwinn Magee and Russell Mathenie Jr., both of Paris; a daughter-in-law: Mona Gwinn of Paris; six grandchildren: Felicia Harguess, Robin (Christine) and Robert (Molly) Hampton, Dennis Gwinn, Beverly (Rick) Beare and Rebecca (John) Falzarano; and a special care-giver: Joanna Niswonger of Paris.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Gwinn, who died in 2006; a son-in-law: William “Bill” Magee; three grandsons: Scottie and Clay Mathenie and Michael Gwinn; two sisters: Cecil Balckwood and Lucille Bomar; and four brothers: Edward, Ralph, Russell and Dorris Lee Wilkinson.
