Elaine Rickard, 86, of Grand Island died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at her home.
Graveside services with burial of ashes will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Alda Cemetery. Dan Naranjo and Deacon John Farlee will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mrs. Rickard was born Aug. 28, 1927, at Brunswick, the daughter of Wendell and Verona (Wagner) Andersen.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, LeRoy and Jan Gilliland of St. Paul, Colleen and Dan Grim of Phillips and Beverly and John Farlee of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Jeri Andersen of Elwood, Ill.; a sister, Shirley Creed of Euless, Texas; seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clyde Rickard; her parents; an infant son, Ricky; and two brothers and a sister.
Elaine attended school at Brunswick before moving to a farm near Dannebrog in 1938. Following her schooling, she helped her father on the farm. She married Everett Gilliland on May 4, 1946. Later she was united in marriage to Clyde Rickard on Oct. 29, 1959, at Chappell.
In 1958 Elaine moved to Grand Island. She worked for GIA for 16 years, retiring in 1992. She then went to work for T&T Cleaning in 1995, retiring in 2011. Some of her enjoyments included puzzles, reading and flowers.
