A veteran of the U.S. Army and Army National Guard, he had worked as a farmer, a truck driver for Paul Bandy and in the oil field, a welder for Jim Donahue Corp. in Durham, and a maintenance worker for John Deere in McPherson.
Survivors include: wife, Violet May Becker Richert; daughters, Virginia Schmidt, McPherson, and Carolyn Funk, Inman; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m., with family present from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice Care of Kansas in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home.
