William Joseph "Bill" Hock, 86, of Plantersville, formerly of Houston, died Saturday evening, October 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and the hills and pastures he loved and knew so well.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:to 7:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205 @ FM 1774 in Plantersville. A parish rosary and vigil service will follow at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church. The rite of committal will follow in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the parish hall immediately following the services.

Bill was born March 16, 1927 and raised in Plantersville. A veteran of the US Army, he served his country during WWII. It was on September 17, 1949 that he married Florine Swonke. They settled in Houston and raised their 4 children. Bill worked for 27 years for Anheuser-Busch and upon his retirement in 1994, they returned to Plantersville.

Bill was a longtime and devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville where he served as an altar boy in his youth. A true outdoors man, Bill enjoyed spending time in his garden, fishing and working on various projects around the home place. He also enjoyed reading and had a lifelong passion for western swing and Bob Wills music.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Faeth Hock.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Florine Hock of Plantersville; children, John Hock and wife, Nancy, of Anderson, Sharon Miller of Conroe, Stephen Hock of Houston and Denise O'Bryan and husband, Joe, of Round Rock; 5 grandchildren, Lauren Laird, Kevin Laird, Samantha Hock, Nicki Ortiz and Brad Homer; 4 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a great number of friends.

The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Alice, Sonya and Janie, for their love and care to Bill.
