Mrs. Martha E. Richeson, daughter of Thomas and Sabra (FLOYD) DUGGER, was born near Hobbieville, in Greene county on April 24, 1843, and departed this life, after many months of a lingering illness following a stroke of paralysis, at her home on South Seminary street in Bloomfield on Monday night, May 5. She was aged eighty-seven years and eleven days. The deceased had lived in Bloomfield about forty years, moving here with her husband, Oris B. RICHESON, and children from Hobbieville. She was married to Mr. RICHESON, on Mar 1, 1866. He had been a soldier in the Civil war, enlisting in COMPANY F, 43RD INDIANA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY and continuing in the service until the close of the war. To this union was born nine children: four with the husband, have preceded her to the great beyond. The survivors of the immediate families are two sisters and one brother, William R. DUGGER and Hetta Jane MEREDITH, both of Dugger, and Nancy LAMB, of Bloomfield, and also three daughters, Mrs. Cora LESTER, Mrs. Myrtle LEAVITT and two sons, Logan RICHESON, of this place, and William Bogard RICHESON, of Sullivan, and Mrs. Abigail E. CUSTER, of Decatur, Ill., and thirty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She became a member of the Christian church at Bethel, in Jackson township, at an early age and transferred her membership to the church in Bloomfield when she came here to make her home. She was always ready to attend services until her health failed her over a year ago. Since then, she has been cared for and nursed by her children, thinking she might be again restored to health, but all failed and she gradually grew worse until the evening of May 5, as the shadows of night were falling, she fell asleep like one who wraps the drapery of this couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams. Dearest mother, thou has left us and thy loss we deeply feel, but "tis God who has bereft us; He can all our sorrows heal. She was a considerate, kind mother, wife and neighbor, and had a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the Christian church, Wednesday forenoon at 10:30o'clock. Interment in Grand View cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. RAINS, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Jack MASTERS. The funeral was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
