Helen Christine Ackerman, 95, of Genoa, was called home to heaven on Sunday, October 13, 2013, surrounded by her family. Helen was born to Frederick and Elizabeth (Haas) Mutchler on February 19, 1918. She married Roy Ackerman in Perrysburg, Ohio, on November 18, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1977.

Helen was a woman of faith, who inspired all around her to love the Lord and see the beauty in His magnificent creations. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, grandma-GG and special friend to many. Helen was also a woman of many talents, which included creating beautiful cakes and decorating her house for the holidays, especially Christmas. Helen spent 95 years on this earth, and it is hard to summarize her amazing journey. She lived her life to the fullest for the Glory of God, her family and her friends.

Preceding Helen in death were her husband, Roy; sons, Michael and Frank; son-in-law, Ed Bernard; daughters-in-law, Janet and Karen; grandson, Joe Abraham; and her seven siblings. Surviving Helen are sons, Ronald (Jeri) Ackerman, Robert Ackerman, William (Randi) Ackerman; daughters, Patricia Bernard, Jane (Bernie) Ashyk and Sue (Joe) Abraham; daughters-in-law, Suzanne Ackerman and Cathy Ackerman; 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, from 2-8 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 Main St., Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
