Milwaukee/Evansville-Arthur "Art" Baumgarten, age 97, entered into the fullness of Eternal Life on Oct. 9, 2013 at Bradford Terrace Nursing Home in Milwaukee. He was born on March 1, 1916, the son of Fred and Anna (Nietz) Baumgarten. Art married Clarice E. Mielke on March 22, 1947 and she preceded him in on Nov, 25, 1998. Art and Clarice moved to Evansville, where they owned and operated Baumgarten's Grocery store for 36 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Evansville, and was very active in the Evansville community. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with family.

He is survived by his son, David Baumgarten (Julie) of Milwaukee; his grandchildren, Amy Baumgarten of Minneapolis and Andrew Baumgarten of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Clarice; an infant daughter, Cheryl.

Funeral services were held at 11 AM on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Evansville with burial at 2:30 PM at the Baraboo Cemetery.
