The following obituary was published in the Waynesburg Republican on March 30, 1916:
"Albert Hunnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Hunnell, of Bluff, died at the Waynesburg Hospital, Thursday morning, March 16, aged 13 years, of appendicitis. He had undergone an operation at the hospital on Monday, but peritonitis developed and his death resulted. Beside the parents, one sister and four brothers survive, Charles Hunnell, of Waynesburg, and Oscar, Jesse, William and Alta, at home. Short funeral services were held Friday evening at the home of Charles Hunnell, conducted by the Rev. J. P. Allison. Saturday morning the remains were taken to the Mt. Zion Methodist Episcopal Church, near Bluff, where services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Peterson. Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery."
The following item appeared in the Democrat Messenger, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania on April 21, 1916:
"IN MEMORIAM.
"Written in loving remembrance of Albert F. Hunnell, son of M. L. and Mary Wilson Hunnell, who departed from this life March 16, 1916. He was born April 21, 1903, and died in the Waynesburg hospital following an operation for appendicitis. He leaves to mourn his loss a father, one sister and four brothers, namely: Alta, Oscar, Jesse and Will, of Bluff, and Charles, of East Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. His mother and one little sister preceded him to the better land several years ago. The body was taken to the home of Chas. Hunnell's, of East Waynesburg, where short funeral services were held Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. P. Allison and then taken to the Mt. Zion church where services were held by Rev. Peterson. What is our loss is heaven's gain. His four brothers were his pallbearers. Interment in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
