Mrs. Martha "Marti" An Morris, age 73, of Sunrise Drive, Blairsville passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Morris was born on Jan. 5, 1939 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of the late Albert B. Meyer and the late Martha E. Whitehead Meyer. Marti was an Ambassador for Christ, She had taught bible studies and was one who truly loved her church and the Lord. She submitted the weekly "Encouragement from the Master" articles in the North Georgia News for several years. Her hobbies included sewing and she was a very talented artist. Marti was a member of the Redeemer Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Surviving Marti are one daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Bryan Sampson of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Becky Morris of Charlotte, NC, one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Tricia Meyer of Alpharetta, GA, five grandchildren, Stephen Asbury Long, Dustin Kyle Sampson, Susanna Grace Long, Elizabeth Christine Long and Chloe Grace Morris, one niece, Claudia Meyer, one nephew, Eric Meyer, a host of church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cline and Rev. Bill Schakat officiating. Marti lay in state at the church on Saturday from 10:30-11:00. Special music was presented by Michael and Jennifer Roderick. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Robby Morris, Bryan Sampson, Stephen Long, Dusty Sampson, Derek Goss and Clarence Phillips. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
