E.E. BARKER RITES SET HERE THURSDAY
Elvis Eugene Barker, 57, owner of a Carlisle service station, was found dead at his home at 301 W. Carlisle Station Monday night.
Justice of the Peace Charles Smith returned an inquest verdict of death by natural causes.
Services will be in the Rix Chapel at 4 p.m. with Bobby Hoover,former minister of Vandelia Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery.
Barker had been under a physician's care because of a heart ailment. He moved to the Lubbock area from Oklahoma in 1940.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas Barker of Chula Vista, Calif.; three sisters, Neawasa Agnew of Rt. 5 Lubbock, Mrs. Lester McNeely of 3024 30th St. and Mrs. R.W. Cunningham of Tupelo, Miss.; a brother, Dewey Barker of Azel, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Barker of Rt.5 and three grandchildren.
Notes: He was married twice:
(1) Cuba Electa Preston - They had son Douglas
(2) Opal Doris Hester - They had no children - Was married to her when he died.
