John E. "Eddie" Carty, 54, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at his home. He was a 1970 graduate of John Battle High School and attended Virginia Tech. He was retired from Overnite Transportation Co. and was presently employed by Metal Castings Co.
He is survived by his parents, William E. "Bill" Carty and Evelyn Meade Carty of Bristol, three brothers, William "Bill" Carty, Jr and his wife Charlotte Carty of Siler City, N.C., Barry Carty and his wife Jennifer Carty of Jacksonville, Florida, and David Carty and his wife Amy Carty of Bristol, VA.; three nieces, Dee Dee Brown and Jill Cunnup, both of Siler City, and Ashlie Stone of Bristol, VA' one nephew, Caleb Stone of Bristol, VA; one great-niece, Kara Brown of Siler City; and one great-nephew, Brady Cunnup of Siler City.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 23, 2006, at the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery, with the Rev. Emmitt Wilson of Beech Grove Methodist Church officiating.
