George Wilbur Abbott, Jr., 70, husband of Mrs. Clara Butts Abbott of Keedysville, Rt. 1, died at the Washington County Hospital Friday morning after a long illness.

He was born at Mount Briar, son of the late George W. and Carrie Norris Abbott. He was a member of the First Church of God at Mount Briar, Local 842 CIO of Hagerstown and was a retired employee of Fairchild Hiller Corporation.

Besides his wife, he is survived by:

Mrs. Marjorie Griffith, both of Boonsboro,
Mrs. Patsy Reeder, Hagerstown;
Mrs. Fay Breeden, Charleston, S.C.;

Garland E. Abbott,
Eddie C. Abbott, both of Hagerstown;
eight grandchildren,
sisters,
Mrs. Ethel Reynolds, Hagerstown;
Mrs. Ora Long,
Mrs. Gladys Reel,
Mrs. Maxine Mikus, all of Keedysville;
Mrs. Glendora Rohrer, Sharpsburg;
brothers,
Woodrow, Williamsport;
Melvin, Sandy Hook;
Harry,
Austin L., both of Keedysville;
a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held from the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro Monday at 10:30. Burial will be in Rohrersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening 7 to 9. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Mount Briar Church of God building fund.
