He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. Stanley was a fireman for the Elyria Fire Department for 12 years and was then employed as a millwright for 17 years at General Motors, Parma, retiring in 1989.
He and his wife enjoyed spending the summers in Marblehead, Ohio and the winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was a member of Erie Shores Assembly Of God in Port Clinton and had been a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Other interests included hunting, fishing, boating, swimming and golf.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine R. (nee Pixley); sons, Alan of Charlotte, North Carolina, David of Brecksville, Dale of Elyria; and a daughter, Linda Smith of Boulder, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Priscilla Duplaga of Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary Lesesky; twin sister, Helen Sabol and a great-grandson, Aven Rowe Smith.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Wednesday, March 9, at 11 A.M. in the funeral home with the Reverend Harry D. Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery where Elyria VFW Post 1079 will present military honors.
