MRS J Q MARSHALL HAS PASSED AWAY
Beloved Columbia Woman Died Yesterday After Brief Illness, Funeral Services Today
Mrs J Q Marshall died at her home, 1401 Laurel Street, yesterday morning at 9 o'clock after a brief illness. Mrs Marshall was the daughter of the late Capt J Hampden Brooks of Ninety-Six. The funeral services will be held at the house at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon and interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. She was the widow of J Q Marshall, former mayor of Columbia.
Mrs Marshall was prominent in the church work of the city and was a member of Trinity church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs James H Hammond and Miss Elizabeth Marshall of Columbia; two sons, Foster Marshall and J Quitman Marshall, Columbia; four sisters, Miss Minnie Brooks, Mrs William Shannon, Mrs B R Heyward of Columbia and Mrs James R Johnson of Charleston; five brothers, Whitfield Brooks, Preston Brooks, Loudon Brooks, Berrien Brooks and Barry Brooks.
